Fred started this business over 50 years ago in Cudahy California. Fred has always loved to fish and mealworms are his favorite bait. Over 50 years ago, he bought a small culture from a local fisherman and started to raise mealworms. In the beginning he grew the worms in his garage. He sold his product to the local bait stores out of the trunk of his car. After years of hard work, Fred started selling his worms full time. Fred was able to purchase some properties in Compton, California, and Rainbow Mealworms was moved to its present location.

With the passing of years, a strong bond of family was formed between Fred and the employees of Rainbow Mealworms. Many of Rainbow Mealworms' present employees have been with Fred for over twenty years! This bond of family is extended to our customers. Some of Fred's first customers of forty years ago, remain customers today.

Our Management

	Fred Rhyme Businessman, entrepreneur, and family man, Fred has been making it happen for over fifty years. A WWII veteran of the United States Merchant Marines, Fred founded Rainbow Mealworms and presides today as its Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. A native of Minnesota, Fred still retains the hard working ethics of his German heritage.
Betty Spence Rhyme President of Rainbow Mealworms, Winifred "Betty" Spence Rhyme has been with Rainbow since the 1970's. More importantly, she and Fred have been together as a loving, married couple since 1996. A native of Dundee, Scotland, she can often be found with a sharp wit, a smart business sense, and a cup of English Breakfast at her desk.
